Training

The focus of our work is continual learning. We coach, consult, facilitate and train either on site or through Internet and telephone conferencing.

Though much of the learning occurs informally, the following pre-designed workshops help to create a Teeming V culture. We can also structure tailored workshops to address specific needs.

1. Dialogue Using a poignant training video with clips from the film Twelve Angry Men, this workshop illustrates the difference between discussion (from the Latin roots meaning to "tear down") and dialogue (from the Greek roots meaning to "talk through"). Participants learn the invaluable approaches to dialogue that engender a revitalized sense of community.

2. Unleashing Creativity Using a beautifully illustrated training film, Everyday Creativity, key elements of creativity and collaboration are memorably illustrated. Participants leave with a renewed sense of personal and organizational possibility.

3. The Seven Windows of Opportunity This workshop is basic training for becoming a highly responsive and collaborative organization. We review Peter Drucker's seven windows of opportunity so that everyone in the organization might become more highly attuned to the many valuable opportunities for innovation that are to be found everywhere in the organization, every day.

4. Get a Clue about You Using Carl Jung's original model of psychological type, this workshop illuminates the different perspectives and approaches that people bring to their work. The training engenders a greater appreciation for the value of diversity and individual strengths.

5. Having Fun at Work Using the entertaining training film, Fish, this session is a delightful reminder that having fun at work, no matter how serious the mission of the organization, creates energy, passion, and camaraderie.

6. Building A Culture of Love Using the culture of Southwest Airlines and the training film, It's So Simple, people learn that organizations that are bound by love will succeed far more readily than those bound by fear. Participants learn to develop trust, respect and support for coworkers instead of the command and control models that have dominated industry.

7. Sharing Leadership Using the model of shared leadership developed by the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra — the world's only conductor-less orchestra — participants learn the value of consensus building and passion for the work.

8. Encouraging Dissent Using the case studies of the Bay of Pigs invasion and the space shuttle Challenger and Columbia disasters, participants learn the serious pitfalls of suppressing dissention. They learn the value of encouraging dissent everywhere in the organization and of paying attention when dissenters have become quiet.

9. Building a Responsive Organization Successful groups are dynamic and responsive. Using the training film, Leadership and the New Science, people learn that order does not require their control, that organizational learning must be perpetual, and that relationships are key to building responsive organizations.

10. Being Gracious This brief training uses an amusing training video, The Guest, to remind people to treat both coworkers and the organization's constituency as welcomed guests.
